Regarding point #1: 47% of millennials are idiots. Okay, maybe "idiots" is too strong of a word, but really, they're missing out. I personally didn't vote for Clinton because of X, Y, and Z, and I didn't vote for Trump because of U, V, and W. But you shouldn't care who I voted for. You should care about that why. You see, at the core of it, I felt that both of those candidates would be bad for my family (immediate and extended) for different reasons. So, when I filled out my absentee ballot, I voted for someone who didn't specifically state that he or she was going to take rights and opportunities away from my family members because of their sex, country of origin, religion, or any other reason. And when you look at it that way, it's hard to say "I wouldn't enter into a relationship with her" because don't we all want the person we're in a relationship with to be someone who fights for those he or she loves? And maybe Clinton would have done some amazing things. And maybe Trump will do/has done some amazing things. (I purposefully have cut myself out of the loop for about 3 months now; so I wouldn't know and am not interested in knowing. Don't tell me.) But when it comes to those I love, I wasn't willing to flip a coin and say "I hope this person hurts us all less."
Really, that 47% of millennials are saying that a label is more important than the reasons behind it. How did we get that way? What can we do to fix it? How can we learn to respect one another even when our opinions differ?
